RTL is a Privately Owned company headquartered in France. Operating under the M6 Group, and founded in 1966, it employs approximately 910 individuals. The company specializes in Broadcast Media Production and Distribution. Functioning as a French private national general radio station broadcast in France, RTL also comprises the RTL Radio Pole, which includes music stations Fun Radio and RTL2.
RTL's acquisition of Sky Deutschland provided a temporary boost to its June numbers and Q2 financials, with CEO Clément Schwebig noting the "seasonally favourable" contribution was not indicative for full-year results, according to an August 12 report. This followed the August 11 announcement that Sky Deutschland drove RTL's first-half 2026 results, with the group posting a turnover of €2.89 billion, a 3.9% year-on-year increase, while organic growth remained stable at 0.1%, and profitability improved significantly. Previously, on August 8, RTL announced that it would centralize all online debate and discussion on social media platforms starting August 15, removing the ability to comment directly beneath articles on its RTL.lu, RTL INFOS, and RTL TODAY sites. Earlier, on July 30, RTL, leveraging its Sky Deutschland takeover, secured a four-year deal for MotoGP rights, covering both pay-TV and free-to-air broadcasts. This followed RTL's July 17 announcement that it would kick off the 2026/27 Bundesliga season by broadcasting the match between RB Leipzig and Borussia Mönchengladbach on August 29 on German free-to-air television.
