On March 6, 2026, UEFA issued a disciplinary sanction to Real Madrid, imposing a €15,000 fine and a conditional partial closure of the Santiago Bernabéu following an incident at a recent Champions League match. Earlier the same day, UEFA and CONMEBOL collaborated to launch the Women in Football Leadership Programme (WFLP) in partnership with IMD Business School. The program aims to equip 30 women working in football with skills to build confidence, strengthen capabilities, and overcome gender bias in pursuit of senior leadership roles. Also on March 6, football finance expert Kieran Maguire asserted that Chelsea faces significant pressure to sell players to comply with their UEFA settlement agreement. Last summer, European football’s governing body fined Chelsea approximately £27 million, with an additional £52 million suspended, for breaching spending rules. Previously, on March 5, UEFA announced it is not considering an alternative venue for the Finalissima between Spain and Argentina, scheduled for March 27 in Lusail, Qatar, amid the conflict in Iran, with a final verdict expected by the end of next week.
