SB Payment Service, a SoftBank Group company and one of Japan’s largest payment service providers, recently handled over five times its system capacity, supporting its wide range of online and in-store payment solutions. Previously, on June 20, 2025, the company adopted VMware Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry to scale its applications, responding to increasing demand for cashless payments in Japan. This follows an earlier development on June 5, 2025, when SB Payment Service Corp. (SBPS), a SoftBank Corp. subsidiary, made a $40 million strategic investment in Dublin-based payments platform Nomupay. This funding, Nomupay’s largest round to date, valued the company at $290 million and established a long-term partnership aimed at simplifying global commerce and expanding payment access across Asia.
