In September 2016, Arm Limited, a semiconductor IP company, joined the SoftBank Group.
On July 10, 2026, SoftBank and its payments arm PayPay were reportedly in discussions to invest in Seven & i Holdings, the Japanese conglomerate behind 7-Eleven, according to Bloomberg. The talks indicate SoftBank’s aim for deeper distribution of its PayPay digital payments platform and a potential foothold for AI-driven store technology across Seven & i’s global convenience locations. Previously, on July 10, SoftBank Group Corp. appointed Mark Agne, a former Goldman Sachs trader, to lead the finance and technology division at its Vision Fund as the company seeks to strengthen its leadership team. Earlier on the same day, SK Group’s Center for Social Value Enhancement Studies (CSES) and SK telecom Co. teamed up with SoftBank Group Corp. to develop a global standard for measuring social value in the age of artificial intelligence.
