On October 9, 2026, SoftBank Group CEO Masayoshi Son reportedly sought up to $100 billion from Gulf investors to finance new artificial intelligence (AI) investments, according to the Financial Times. Earlier the same day, SoftBank Group Corp., Grab Holdings Limited, and Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) signed a Framework Agreement in Kuching, Malaysia. This tri-party agreement, signed by SoftBank's Masayoshi Son, Grab's Group Chairman Anthony Tan, and PETROS Group CEO Dato Janin Girie, aims to explore the development of an AI and digital infrastructure platform in Sarawak.
