Bharti became a major investor in OneWeb in 2020, following its emergence from bankruptcy, and Eutelsat acquired a 24% stake in OneWeb in April 2021. The DoT's decision is considered a critical development for satellite communication in India, potentially expanding broadband services in underserved areas.
