Southern Conference

Southern Conference, also known as SoCon, is a privately owned entity headquartered in the United States. Founded in 1921, it operates with approximately 30 employees. Functioning as a collegiate athletic conference, it is affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I. The conference oversees football teams that compete in the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA), with member institutions located across Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The Southern Conference ranks as the fifth-oldest major college athletic conference in the United States, and is considered either the third or fourth oldest in continuous operation, depending on definitions.
