Previously, on November 24, 2025, the corporation hosted the 9th ABU Media Summit on Climate Action and Disaster Prevention 2025 in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU). The summit, held from November 25-27 in Colombo, attracted delegates from 30 countries, including 75 foreign and 100 local participants, with Bank of Ceylon serving as the official banking partner. This followed a June 10, 2025, Cabinet decision approving the maintenance of Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation as a separate state enterprise with its own identity, alongside the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation.
