Studio Dragon, a publicly owned company headquartered in South Korea, was founded in 2016, employs approximately 40 individuals, and reported $373.6M in revenue as of 2025. It functions as a tier 1 media tech buyer and is a subsidiary of CJ ENM Global. The company specializes in content rights, operating as a vertically integrated mass media film studio and television entertainment company and serving as an architectural engine behind the global "Hallyu" (Korean Wave) television drama boom. Studio Dragon commands an extensive network of specialized boutique subsidiary production labels, including Culture Depot, Hwa&Dam Pictures, KPJ Corporation, and GTist, while expanding its international footprint via cross-border vehicles like Studio Dragon Japan and StudioMonowa—a strategic joint venture formed with Japanese media institutions TBS and U-NEXT. The company controls a multi-trillion-won proprietary intellectual property library encompassing thousands of hours of high-fidelity television fiction. Its globally syndicated entertainment catalogue includes titles such as Crash Landing on You, The Glory, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (Goblin), Vincenzo, Hotel Del Luna, Sweet Home, Alchemy of Souls, Queen of Tears, Stranger, and Mr. Sunshine.
The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) is collaborating with Studio Dragon to integrate K-drama production directly into South Korea's national tourism strategy, designing tourism opportunities from the earliest stages of drama production to strengthen the country's position as a cultural tourism destination. This initiative, reported on June 19, aims to transform K-drama filming locations into a major driver of global travel. Previously, on June 17, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) signed a memorandum of understanding with Studio Dragon, Korea's largest drama production company, to revitalize regional tourism through K-dramas. The partnership focuses on developing K-drama filming locations into tourism content, providing Hallyu fans with opportunities to visit Korea.
