Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation, also known as TBC, is a state-owned entity headquartered in Tanzania. Founded in 1951, it functions as a tier 1 media tech buyer, providing broadcast television and radio. As Tanzania's national network, it is government-owned and operated.
Ramadhan Dachi assumed the role of Director General of the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) on July 17, 2026, at a critical juncture where the state broadcaster must reinvent its programming and commercial strategy to compete in a fragmented digital media ecosystem. This leadership change occurred as President Samia Suluhu Hassan was sworn in for another term on November 4, 2025, following a disputed election characterized by an internet blackout, curfews, and reports of violence. Earlier, on September 29, 2025, a three-member delegation from TBC conducted a one-day benchmarking visit at the National Communications Authority (NCA) Tower in Accra. This followed the April 2, 2025, kickoff of the Tanzania Remote Area Communication Coverage Project, as TBC's Engineering Team collaborated with GOSPELL on the implementation phase. This project aims to improve rural livelihoods, bridge the urban-rural digital divide, and accelerate modernization through comprehensive network coverage, aligning with Tanzania’s five-year development strategy.
