Previously, on the same day, the PTA confirmed the Ufone-Telenor merger entered its final stage, informing a Senate committee that the integration would conclude in the coming days, leading to the formation of a new telecom company. These developments followed August 6, 2026, when the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat questioned the PTA regarding recent disruptions in Ufone services and sought clarity on the future of Pakistan's mobile communication system.
