Universidad de Costa Rica

Universidad de Costa Rica, also known as UCR, is a State Owned entity headquartered in Costa Rica, specifically at the Rodrigo Facio Campus in San Pedro, Montes de Oca, San José. Founded in August 1940 through legislative Law No. 362, which built upon the historical foundations of the 19th-century Universidad de Santo Tomás, it employs approximately 8500 individuals. The institution primarily offers broadcast television and radio and operates as a tier 1 media tech buyer. Functioning as an autonomous Higher Education Institution, UCR is a public institution of higher education in Costa Rica that contributes to social, economic, and scientific development in Central America and operates as a public research university in Latin America.
