Jordan Geist earned recognition as the fifth USATF Athlete of the Week for 2026 on February 12, after winning a pair of World Indoor Tour Gold meets in the men's shot put. Previously, on February 10, USA Track & Field announced that the 2026 Toyota USATF Outdoor and Para National Championships will be held in New York City for the first time in the event’s history, while the 2027 event will take place in Eugene, Oregon. Earlier in February, on February 5, Roisin Willis received the fourth USATF Athlete of the Week award for 2026 after bettering the American indoor record in the women's 800 meters, clocking 1:57.97 at the Thomas Terrier Classic to surpass Ajee' Wilson's 2020 record of 1:58.29, and then winning the 600 at the Millrose Games in 1:24.87. This followed the February 3 announcement that the 2026 USATF 10 Mile Championships will occur on Sunday, April 12, in Washington D.C., awarding USATF Championship medals and Running Circuit points to the Top 10 men's and women's finishers.
