Wavve is a privately owned South Korean company founded in 2019 that operates a streaming service. Employing approximately 60 people, it offers real-time broadcasting and video-on-demand (VOD) services, encompassing over 70 premium channels, 200,000+ VOD titles, and various films. Its revenue in 2020 was less than $250 million. The platform is described as a Content Alliance Platform (CAP).
On September 30, 2024, SBS ended its live broadcast and VOD services on Wavve. A merger between Wavve and Tving received approval, with a condition of a fee freeze until the end of 2026. Research from Omdia shows that, as of an unspecified date, Netflix holds a 31% share of South Korea's subscription-based online video market, while domestic platforms, including Wavve with an 11% share, collectively hold a 40% share. The Africa’s Business Heroes Prize Competition is unrelated to Wavve.
