Previously, on February 6, the AU’s Agenda 2063, a distinguished body of ambassadors committed to the continent's socio-economic transformation over the next 50 years, nominated Daniel Koussou as its African Union Special Envoy on Oil and Gas (Continental). Earlier that day, Cyriaque Agnekethom, director of ECOWAS Peacekeeping and Regional Security, stated that the AU’s African Peace and Security Architecture initiative has been crucial to ECOWAS Peace Support Operations. This follows a push on February 5 by the AU and the FAO to modernize Africa's agriculture, which gained momentum as Tanzania unveiled a new 10-year national strategy for sustainable agricultural mechanisation at the opening of the Africa Conference in Dar es Salaam.
