International Military Sports Council, also known as CISM, is a privately owned international sports association headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. Established in 1948, the organization operates with approximately 40 employees. Functioning as the world's second-largest multi-discipline sports organization after the International Olympic Committee, CISM specializes in athletics and multi-discipline sports. It holds more than 20 competitions annually, enabling soldiers from its 140 member countries who may previously have met on the battlefield to compete on the sports playing field. CISM organizes various sporting events, including the Military World Games and World Military Championships, for the armed forces of these member countries.
The 48th CISM World Military Parachuting Championship concluded on Saturday, August 22, at Boľkovce Airport near Lučenec, Slovakia, bringing a week of high-level competition to a close. This followed day six of the championship on Friday, August 21, which saw tie-breaks set up a dramatic final day as several competitions concluded and three decisive accuracy battles remained. Intense action characterized the first two competition days, Sunday, August 16, and Monday, August 17, after the opening ceremony. The championship originally kicked off in Slovakia, bringing together 350 participants from 32 nations and running until August 23, 2026. Separately, on August 11, the International Military Sports Council (CISM) confirmed São Paulo, Brazil, as the official host city for the CISM International Symposium 2027.
