News Summary:

On April 25, 2026, Martin Lewis on his BBC podcast warned listeners about potentially missing out on better savings returns, discussing various types of accounts and ISAs. The day before, on April 24, BBC bosses began considering axing their digital TV channel in Scotland as part of a significant cost-cutting effort. This consideration follows the corporation's announcement last week to cut between 1800 and 2000 jobs across the UK, nearly one in ten, to address "significant financial pressures." Separately on April 24, media regulator Ofcom approved a new 24-hour specialist 6 Music stream for BBC Sounds. Proposed as an extension of the MediaCity-based station, this stream will focus on indie rock and pop music from the 1980s-2010s, including new grassroots indie. Earlier that day, director Lenny Abrahamson, acclaimed for "Normal People," confirmed his reunion with the BBC and Element Pictures for an adaptation of David Nicholls’ novel "You Are Here."
