Bhutan Broadcasting Service, also known as BBS, is a State Owned company headquartered in Bhutan. Founded in 1999, it functions as a tier 1 media tech buyer, operating as a state-funded radio and television service, primarily offering broadcast television and radio programming.
On February 7, 2026, the government reported it is redrafting the National Information and Media Policy to establish a clear broadcasting policy framework for private television stations, more than a year after announcing plans for their introduction. Concurrently, the government is working to transform Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS) into a Public Service Broadcaster. Previously, on September 25, 2025, Bhutan Broadcasting Service Corporation Limited re-invited sealed quotations from eligible firms for the construction of a Virtual Studio Platform with an attached backdrop. On the same day, the corporation also re-invited bids for the supply of tyres and tubes for the financial year 2025-2026. Earlier, on September 10, 2025, BBS invited quotations for the supply of office chairs. This followed a September 4, 2025 invitation from the Bhutan Broadcasting Service Corporation Limited for bids from eligible firms or individuals for the operation of its canteen services.
