Brown University

Brown University is a privately owned Ivy League research university located in Providence, Rhode Island. Founded in 1764 as the College in the English Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, it is the seventh-oldest institution of higher education in the United States. Established before the American Revolution, Brown holds the distinction of being the first US college to formally guarantee equal admission and instruction to students irrespective of their religious background. The university currently employs approximately 10,440 people.
