Brown University

Brown University is a privately owned institution headquartered in the US. Founded in 1764 as the College in the English Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, it currently operates with approximately 10,440 employees. Functioning as an Ivy League research university located in Providence, Rhode Island, it is recognized as the seventh-oldest institution of higher education in the US and one of nine colonial colleges chartered before the American Revolution. Notably, Brown University was the first US college to codify that the admission and instruction of students were to be equal regardless of their religious affiliation.
