On February 23, 2026, Hisense reported sales of over one million televisions featuring Freely, the streamed TV service backed by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and Five. This service delivers subscription-free channels from its creators, including UKTV, alongside selected third-party broadcasters via broadband, presented through a traditional electronic program guide. Earlier, on January 27, Jonathan Thompson, the head of Freely's parent company Everyone TV, discussed the feasibility of a second digital TV switchover in the UK, noting that a potential 2035 deadline is achievable with considerable effort. News also emerged on January 27 that a new method for enjoying Freely on any television would soon be released, expanding options beyond purchasing a new compatible TV or the Netgem PLEIO puck.
