Finecast, a privately owned UK-based company founded in 2017, provides addressable television advertising solutions. Employing approximately 190 people, the company generated approximately $250 million in revenue in 2023. Its primary offering utilizes real-time bidding (RTB) and programmatic technologies to deliver personalized television advertisements across various platforms, including on-demand, linear, and live streaming TV services. These services allow advertisers to target specific audiences watching content across multiple broadcasters and devices such as set-top boxes and game consoles. Finecast is a subsidiary of GroupM, a media investment group within WPP.
WPP acquired InfoSum, a data collaboration platform, in 2024. InfoSum became part of GroupM, WPP's media investment group. Brian Lesser, previously chairman and CEO of InfoSum, joined GroupM as global chief executive in September 2024. This acquisition integrated InfoSum into GroupM's AI stack, providing WPP clients with access to a large source of privacy-safe data for enhanced marketing intelligence, audience targeting, and AI model training. The acquisition allows for the quick launch of AI-driven campaigns by linking client data to a global privacy-safe media network, enabling marketers to activate sensitive data across platforms while addressing compliance issues. The purchase of InfoSum represents a strategic step for WPP's AI-driven data offerings, expanding data intelligence for clients and surpassing traditional identity-based solutions.
