Flowbird Group, a privately owned French company founded in 2018, develops software for parking and transportation ticketing systems. Employing approximately 910 people, the company's primary business is the creation and provision of these software solutions.
Edinburgh Trams launched a contactless bank card payment system on May 19, 2024, in partnership with Flowbird. This system, building on Lothian Buses' TapTapCap system, allows for tap-on, tap-off pay-as-you-go fares. The City of Edinburgh Council announced the upcoming launch of a similar contactless payment system for trams, developed in collaboration with Flowbird, shortly before the May 19th launch. This system, currently in its final testing stages, represents the first such project in Scotland. Separately, Rob Willcock, formerly chief commercial officer at Flowbird, was appointed CEO of Orange Business' International arm.
