Why “Broadcast-Grade” Streaming Is a Commercial Imperative
For broadcasters, OTT services, and rights holders, streaming is now central to audience reach and revenue generation. It shapes viewing behavior and advertising strategy and influences how rights are valued across major markets. Broadcast and streaming are converging. What comes next?
Across my career, I’ve watched broadcasting evolve through multiple technological cycles, from analogue to digital, SD to HD, and satellite to IP. Each shift has changed how content is created and delivered. Yet none of these transitions replaced the foundations of our industry; they expanded what was possible – a pattern often described by Riepl’s Law, which observes that new media do not replace old media, but instead coexist, adapt and evolve alongside them.
