News Summary:

Elite gymnasts increasingly extend their careers post-pregnancy, with athletes like Olympian Alice Kinsella exploring new territory in returning to competition after childbirth, often sooner and with greater public visibility. Previously, on December 16, 2025, World Gymnastics granted neutral status to seven Russian gymnasts—Alena Seliverstova, Arina Lavrenova, Daria Kudryavtseva, Ekaterina Timoshenko, Sofia Lobova, and Nonna Nyanina in rhythmic gymnastics, and Ilya Musin in artistic gymnastics—along with coaching staff members Igor Manenko, Nikolai Kuksekov, and Olga Abramova. This followed the International Gymnastics Federation's (FIG) rebranding on December 9, 2025, to "World Gymnastics," a change President Morinari Watanabe stated emphasizes the organization's global reach. Earlier, on August 14, 2025, the FIG opened media registration for its 53rd Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, scheduled for October 19-25, 2025, in Jakarta, Indonesia. The FIG Executive Committee also convened in Lausanne, Switzerland, from July 9-10, 2025, to make key decisions.
