International Military Sports Council, also known as CISM, is a privately owned organization headquartered in Belgium. Founded in 1948, the organization operates with approximately 40 employees and reported $12.9M in revenue as of 2023. Functioning as a tier 2 media tech buyer, it specializes in athletics and multi-discipline sports. As an international sports association, CISM is recognized as the world's second-largest multi-discipline sports organization after the International Olympic Committee. It holds more than 20 competitions annually, facilitating an environment where soldiers from 140 member countries, who may have previously met on the battlefield, compete on the sports playing field. Its activities include organizing various sporting events, such as the Military World Games and World Military Championships, for the armed forces of its member nations.
Brazilian military personnel from the Navy, Army, and Air Force established a new Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) South American Record in Formation Skydiving in the TBS 26-way category, completing three valid points between December 15 and 19, 2025, in São Paulo. This achievement followed the International Military Sports Council (CISM)'s announcement on December 22, 2025, regarding its first official equestrian training course. Scheduled for May 2026 in Egypt, the course falls under a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Egyptian Armed Forces Sports Agency. Previously, on December 2, 2025, CISM strengthened its academic and Olympic partnerships during high-level meetings in Athens, where CISM Secretary General Navy Captain Roberto Recchia visited the International Olympic Academy (IOA) offices.
