Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, also known as KBC, is a state-owned media organization headquartered in Kenya. Founded in 1928, the company employs approximately 590 individuals and specializes in media production, functioning as the state-run media organization of Kenya.
The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) revamp drive gained momentum on April 20, 2026, when Principal Secretary for Public Investments and Assets Management Cyrell Wagunda met with the broadcaster’s Board of Directors to accelerate reforms under the Government Owned Enterprise (GOE) framework. This followed a strategic consultative meeting on April 15, 2026, where the National Treasury engaged KBC leadership to reposition the public broadcaster as a commercially viable and self-sustaining entity. During that earlier meeting, Principal Secretary Cyrell Wagunda, alongside KBC Board Chairperson Tom Mshindi and Managing Director Agnes Kalekye, explored strategies including asset utilization, financial restructuring, and diversified revenue streams.
