This broader accountability push for state-owned entities follows President William Ruto's signing of the Government Owned Enterprises Bill 2025 into law on November 23, 2025. The new Act overhauls how state-owned entities are established, governed, and managed, aiming to enhance corporate governance, transparency, and commercial viability. Previously, on July 30, 2025, the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Communication Information and Innovation intervened in a long-running dispute involving distressed pensioners of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) over unremitted pension contributions and a controversial legal fee claim.
