Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, also known as KBC, is a state-owned media organization headquartered in Kenya. Founded in 1928, the company employs approximately 590 individuals and specializes in media production, functioning as the state-run media organization of Kenya.
On November 23, 2025, President William Ruto signed the Government Owned Enterprises Bill 2025 into law, significantly overhauling the establishment, governance, and management of state-owned entities such as Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC). The new Act aims to enhance corporate governance, transparency, and commercial viability for these institutions. Previously, on July 30, 2025, the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Communication Information and Innovation (CII), chaired by Hon. John Kiarie, intervened in a long-running dispute, backing distressed KBC pensioners regarding unremitted pension contributions and a controversial legal fee claim.
