Korea Baseball Organization, also known as KBO, a privately owned entity headquartered in South Korea, was founded in 1981, operates with approximately 10 employees, and reported $53.1M in revenue as of 2021. Functioning as the governing body for professional baseball leagues in South Korea, the organization manages bat sports across the nation.
On June 8, 2026, the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) raised the active player limit to 30 for the Asian Games and expanded the number of foreign players in Futures League teams to six, up from four. Previously, on May 20, Ulsan's Japanese pitchers attracted interest from KBO teams, but existing transfer rules, including the KBO Leagues Asia quota, blocked their potential moves. This followed South Korean pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin's announcement on March 13 of his retirement from international play, made after a loss to the Dominican Republic in the quarterfinals of the World Baseball Classic (WBC). Earlier, on January 29, the KBO decided to expand the World Baseball Classic championship prize money and increase the minimum player salary. The organization also began accepting applications on January 13 for its 2026 Records Workshop, scheduled to be held from January 30 to February 1 at Hanyang University in Seoul.
