On March 15, 2026, a new MIT study indicated that heavy reliance on AI tools such as ChatGPT could be linked to reduced memory retention and weaker brain connectivity. The research, which involved 54 participants writing essays with or without AI assistance, observed the lowest brain activity in areas associated with thinking and remembering among those who used ChatGPT. Previously, on March 14, MIT scientists studying particle collisions at CERN revealed new evidence suggesting the early universe's primordial plasma flowed like a liquid, providing insight into the first moments after the Big Bang. Earlier the same day, MIT PhD student Audrey Parker and her collaborators continued their research into cutting methane emissions, measuring the greenhouse gas at a dairy barn as part of a quest from Idaho to MIT.
