The NHRA Winternationals will commemorate the 55th anniversary of Don Garlits' seminal 1971 Top Fuel win in a rear-engine car, an achievement that profoundly changed Top Fuel racing. Also scheduled for April 9-12 at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip, the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals will host the 1000th Funny Car race; two-time world champion Cruz Pedregon, who won NHRA's 1000th overall race in Las Vegas and the 900th Funny Car race in Norwalk in 2021, will compete at his home track. On April 1, Cooper Chun was named March's Peak Performance Sportsman Racer of the Month, the inaugural award for 2026 as chosen by NHRA National Dragster magazine. Earlier, on March 31, the NHRA partnered with Filippo Loreti to unveil a collection of signature timepieces, celebrating the association's 75th anniversary. This followed the Laris Motorsports Insurance NHRA SPORTSnationals on March 30 at No Problem Raceway Park in Belle Rose, Louisiana, where Rodger Brogdon, Dan Dittmer, and Brett Candies were among the winners crowned.
