On May 1, 2026, Shawn Langdon made the fastest pass in NHRA history at 345 mph, taking the provisional No. 1 spot at the NHRA Southern Nationals, which marked the association's debut at South Georgia Motorsports Park. Previously, on April 27, the Ford Racing Mustang Cobra Jet 2200 became the quickest and fastest electric car in the quarter-mile at the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals. This followed Jonathan Allegrucci's victory on April 26, where he won the Flexjet Factory Stock title at zMax Dragway for the second consecutive year, driving his Ford Mustang Cobra Jet. Also on April 26, reigning Top Fuel world champion Doug Kalitta shattered the track speed record in the final round to win the 16th annual NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway, beating Shawn Langdon, Tony Stewart, and Leah Pruett.
