Employing approximately 30 people, NMG's primary business is broadcast television and radio, operating a range of themed channels. Its headquarters are located in Russia. In 2021, the company's revenue was less than $1 billion.
On April 9, 2024, National Media Group (NMG) announced plans to acquire Medialogia, a developer of a mass media and social media monitoring and analysis system. NMG's CEO, Svetlana Balanova, stated the intention to use combined expertise to expand product offerings in information risk and reputation management. Separately, the French media regulator Arcom issued an order to Eutelsat to cease broadcasting two channels, STS and 5TV (Channel 5), linked to NMG. This order, issued to comply with EU sanctions against a commercial enterprise connected to NMG following Russia's actions in Ukraine, mandated the cessation of transmissions within three days (72 hours).
