NTV Uganda, a privately owned company headquartered in Uganda and a subsidiary of Nation Media Group, functions as a tier 1 media tech buyer. Founded in 2006 and employing approximately 190 individuals, the company specializes in broadcast television and radio. It operates as a national television station, focusing on news reporting, local drama production, and investigative journalism in Uganda.
On July 28, 2026, Nation Media Group (NMG) Uganda announced the resumption of its broadcasting and publishing operations, including NTV, following a nearly month-long shutdown and approval from President Yoweri Museveni. The media house stated its television, print, radio, and digital platforms would gradually return to normal operations. This followed an "on-going siege" against Daily Monitor and NTV, which highlighted concerns about press freedom as of July 6. Earlier, on July 4, NMG shareholder Wafula Oguttu stated the company would not sack managers or editors to satisfy government demands during negotiations over the closures of Daily Monitor and NTV Uganda. On the same day, NMG considered removing or reassigning its Uganda Managing Director Susan Nsibirwa as part of efforts to resolve the government standoff that had shut down operations. Previously, on July 1, NMG Uganda directed its editorial teams to immediately suspend all online publishing and broadcasting as negotiations with the government over the reopening of its media operations continued, marking a significant shift in the company’s response.
