Orange Belgium and Luxembourg is a privately owned telecommunications company headquartered in Belgium. Founded in 1995 and initially operating under the name Mobistar, it was established by France Télécom. The company rebranded as Orange in May 2016. As of 2024, it employs approximately 1700 people and generates over $1 billion in annual revenue. Orange Europe is its parent company, and VOO is a subsidiary.
In July 2025, Orange Belgium experienced a cyberattack resulting in unauthorized access to limited data from 850,000 customer accounts. The company stated that critical information was not compromised. Following this incident, and due to concerns from the Belgian regulator Bipt regarding SIM swapping fraud, Orange Belgium implemented additional security measures to the number transfer process. This followed an announcement from BIPT of precautionary measures to reduce SIM card fraud risks after the July cyberattack, which exposed sensitive data including SIM card numbers and PUK codes from the affected accounts. A cooperation agreement between Orange Belgium and Proximus aims to complete the FTTH coverage plan for Belgium, pending regulatory approval for network build plans.
