Paramount Pictures on March 15, 2026, decided not to move forward with screenwriter Max Landis's proposed story treatment for a G.I. Joe reboot, opting instead to explore new directions for the popular action franchise. Earlier on the same day, Paramount Global announced plans to integrate its Paramount+ service with BET+ and HBO Max, forming a unified streaming platform. This development follows Paramount Skydance’s approximately $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, a deal positioning the company to compete more aggressively against major streamers like Netflix and Disney+. Previously, on March 14, ByteDance reportedly suspended the global rollout of its AI video generation tool, Seedance 2.0, after receiving legal threats, including cease-and-desist letters from several Hollywood studios, among them Paramount.
