Radiotelevizija Slovenija (RTV Slovenija, RTV SLO, RTV), a state-owned public broadcaster founded in 1928, operates in Slovenia. Employing approximately 1110 people, it provides television services including two national channels and two regional channels, as well as radio services encompassing three national channels and regional programming. RTV Slovenija also offers programming for Italian and Hungarian minority communities in Slovenia and an international service. Its most recent annual revenue (2023) was below $250 million.
RTV Slovenija's license fee may increase by 10 percent, raising the monthly fee from EUR 12.75 to EUR 14.02 per household. This would be the first increase in 12 years and the fee accounts for more than two-thirds of RTV Slovenija's revenue. The Culture Ministry proposed this increase. In 2023, RTV Slovenija reported revenue of EUR 139.7 million and expenditure of EUR 146.7 million. Separately, Slovenia’s Agency for Communication Networks and Services announced the shutdown of DVB-T multiplex C, operated by RTV Slovenija, on February 1st, 2024. The multiplex, launched in 2013, distributed commercial TV channels.
