Radiotelevizija Slovenija, also known as RTV Slovenija, RTV SLO, or RTV, is a state-owned public broadcaster headquartered in Slovenia. Founded in 1928, the organization employs approximately 1130 individuals and reported $173.4M in revenue as of 2025, functioning as a tier 1 media tech buyer. The company specializes in broadcast television and radio, providing two national TV channels, two regional TV services, three national radio channels, regional radio programmes, services for indigenous Italian and Hungarian communities, and an overseas service.
On September 4, 2026, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) joined other media and journalist organizations in calling for robust safeguards to protect the institutional and editorial independence of Radiotelevizija Slovenija (RTV Slovenija). These organizations also urged that any reform of the legal framework for RTV Slovenija guarantee adequate, sustainable, and predictable funding for its public service remit. Previously, on January 6, 2026, Slovenia expanded its digital radio broadcasting by launching two new DAB+ networks. The R4 network was designed as a nationwide multiplex to ensure high-quality reception of radio programs across the entire territory of Slovenia, while the R5 network focused on regional and local broadcasting, allowing smaller stations to enter the digital space under more favorable conditions. This follows the RTV Slovenija council's adoption of its 2026 business plan on December 29, 2025. The plan projected balanced revenue and expenditure of just under EUR 162.9 million, an almost EUR 8 million increase compared to 2025.
