The acquisition was reported earlier on May 6 by Variety, which noted Versant sold the SportsEngine assets as part of a broader effort to sharpen its portfolio following its split from NBCUniversal. This followed a Bloomberg report on May 1, which indicated Versant's SportsEngine was set to sell to Genstar-backed Playmetrics. Previously, on April 29, USA Lacrosse and SportsEngine announced an expanded partnership, naming SportsEngine as the Preferred Youth Sports Management Platform Partner, responsible for registration, payments integrated with USA Lacrosse memberships, scheduling, communication, mobile apps, and roster management.
