StudioCanal, a privately owned French company founded in 1986, is a subsidiary of the Canal+ Group. Employing approximately 400 people, it focuses on the production, acquisition, distribution, and sales of international feature films and television series. In 2023, the company reported revenues of approximately $500 million. While it offers streaming services, its core business encompasses a broader range of film and television activities.
StudioCanal, alongside Sonia Friedman Productions and Eliza Lumley Productions on behalf of Universal Music UK, announced the almost complete cast for the world premiere of *Paddington The Musical*, with rehearsals underway. Further announcements revealed the full cast and additional cast members joining the previously announced ensemble. The expanded company for *Paddington the Musical*, premiering at London’s Savoy Theatre this autumn, was also unveiled. In addition to casting news, the majority of the principal casting and further creative team members were announced as rehearsals began. Separately, the Canal+ group announced exclusive negotiations with UCG to acquire a stake in the French cinema company, a move intended to accelerate the development of StudioCanal.
