Technicolor Group (TCS), a privately owned company founded in 2021, provides visual effects (VFX) and animation services to the global entertainment, media, and advertising industries. Headquartered in the US, it employs approximately 20,380 people. In 2023, the company's revenue was less than $1 billion. While known as Technicolor Creative Studios, the parent company is officially Technicolor Group.
TransPerfect acquired two France-based Technicolor Group studios, MPC and The Mill, on April 14, 2025. Following sustained financial difficulties, Technicolor Creative Studios UK appointed administrators, resulting in over 400 redundancies. The Paris Commercial Court subsequently issued a decision regarding several acquisition offers impacting the Group’s French subsidiaries. These events follow the closure of Glassworks, The Mill, and MPC, all formerly part of the Technicolor Group, amidst rising costs and tighter margins within the UK post-production and VFX industry. ENVY Group and Halo, two independent players, have opted for collaboration in response to these industry challenges.
