The New York Racing Association, also known as NYRA, is a privately owned entity headquartered in the US. Founded in 1955, the organization employs approximately 380 individuals. Functioning as a tier 1 media tech buyer, its primary offerings involve media and TV services. The company is a not-for-profit organization responsible for overseeing and promoting horse racing activities at three major New York racetracks: Belmont Park, Aqueduct Racetrack, and Saratoga Race Course.
On May 1, 2026, the new Belmont Park continued to take shape on Long Island, with workers preparing the racing facility ahead of the Kentucky Derby. This development follows an April 29 update indicating that construction on the ultra-modern version of Belmont Park is in its final stages, with an opening anticipated in September, less than five months away. Earlier on April 29, Main Line Racing Stable and Avalon Racing Stables’ Mega Mil, with a perfect record on local dirt, was scheduled to make its turf debut in the Listed $150,000 License Fee, a six-furlong outer turf sprint for older fillies and mares at Belmont at the Big A. On April 28, Newtown Anner Stud Farm’s dual graded stakes-winner Praying aimed to return to winning ways in her second start off a five-month layoff in the Grade 3 $175,000 Vagrancy, a 6 1/2-furlong sprint for older fillies and mares at Belmont at the Big A. Previously, on April 27, trainer Miguel Clement prepared to send out dual Grade 1-winner Deterministic and dual group-winner Ridari in the Grade 3 $175,000 Fort Marcy, a nine-furlong inner turf test for older horses at Belmont at the Big A.
