University of Utah Athletics is a non-profit organization founded in 1850 that oversees the intercollegiate sports programs representing the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, USA. Employing approximately 180 people as of 2023, the department, named for the Ute Native American tribe, manages various sports teams, including the men's basketball team (known as the Runnin' Utes) and the women's gymnastics team (known as the Red Rocks). Its primary activity is the organization and presentation of spectator sports.
Sixty-nine student-athletes achieved a 4.00 GPA, 225 were named to the Dean's List (3.50 GPA or higher), and 393 made the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (3.00 GPA or higher), representing 80.5% of student-athletes. The women's gymnastics team maintained a 3.00 GPA or higher for 60 consecutive semesters. In September and October, the men's golf team competed in several tournaments, placing first in the Palouse Collegiate (September 10-11) and the Tindall Invitational (September 23-24), sixth in the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational (September 30-October 1), seventh in the Big 12 Match Play (October 7-9), and seventh in the Preserve Collegiate (October). The track and field team qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 4x100m relay. Anna Reimers joined the softball team as a pitcher. A new director of men's basketball sports performance was appointed.
