Xtreme Football League, also known as XFL, is a privately owned entity headquartered in the US. Founded in 2018 and operating in the spectator sports industry with approximately 500 employees, the XFL also functions as a tier 1 media tech buyer. The league is a US professional football league comprising eight teams located across the United States in mid-sized to major markets, each of which is served by at least one other major professional sports team.
On June 22, 2026, the United Football League (UFL) secured a deal to receive NFL referees as part of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, formalizing the UFL's role in the NFL's developmental landscape for officials. Previously, on June 12, Orlando Storm quarterback Jack Plummer was named the 2026 UFL Most Valuable Player, becoming the third quarterback to receive the honor after Bryce Parker (2025) and Adrian Martinez (2024). The day before, on June 11, Orlando Storm Head Coach Anthony Becht earned the 2026 Buddy Teevens UFL Coach of the Year award, having been named the team's head coach when the Orlando Storm was announced as an expansion franchise. This followed the June 10 announcement that St. Louis Battlehawks wide receiver Hakeem Butler became the 2026 UFL Offensive Player of the Year, making him the first player in league history to win the award multiple times after also claiming it in 2024.
