Xtreme Football League, also known as XFL, is a privately owned entity headquartered in the US. Founded in 2018 and operating in the spectator sports industry with approximately 500 employees, the XFL also functions as a tier 1 media tech buyer. The league is a US professional football league comprising eight teams located across the United States in mid-sized to major markets, each of which is served by at least one other major professional sports team.
On October 1, 2026, the United Football League (UFL) announced its first two free agent signings following successful showcases, with Cliff Harris award winner John Sullivan joining the Battlehawks and Wide Receiver Cahsid Raymond signing with the Kevin Sumlin-led Dallas Renegades. Previously, on September 24, 2026, league executives advanced efforts to establish a team in Oklahoma City, setting up corporate sponsorship options ahead of its 2028 kickoff. This followed the UFL's September 23, 2026, announcements of expansion into new markets. Utah will join the league in 2028 as part of a four-market expansion, growing the UFL to 10 teams. On the same day, Colorado Springs was named as another expansion city, with a professional football team set to take the field at Weidner Field starting in April 2027, alongside Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Earlier, on September 8, 2026, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office refused the UFL's application for the letters UFL, clarifying that while the league owns the rights to the name "United Football League," it does not own the rights to the abbreviation.
