AccuWeather released a study on October 26 showing that while overall U.S. precipitation totals remain unchanged, heavier downpours and increased hourly extremes are leading to a higher flood risk and potential economic losses. On an unrelated note, AccuWeather provided a local weather forecast for Emmet County, predicting sunny and warm weather with temperatures between 69 and 82 degrees. In a media advisory sent to Rigzone, AccuWeather slightly lowered its forecast for the number of named storms and hurricanes expected in the Atlantic this season. AccuWeather meteorologists are currently monitoring several areas in the Atlantic with potential for tropical development, including a system near the Carolinas, a tropical wave in the central Atlantic, and a zone spanning from the western Caribbean to the Gulf of Mexico. Finally, AccuWeather experts commented on the fall foliage, predicting a significant difference in fall colors across the U.S. this year due to unfavorable weather, insect activity, and tree diseases.
