ARD, or Arbeitsgemeinschaft der öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunkanstalten der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, is a German state-owned organization established in 1950. Comprising nine regional public-service broadcasters, ARD's primary function is the production and broadcast of television and radio programming. Headquartered in Germany, it employs approximately 1880 people and generated over $1 billion in revenue in 2023. Its initial purpose was to coordinate the interests of these regional broadcasters, particularly in the development of a shared television network following World War II.
