Balgarska Nacionalna Televiizija, also known as BNT or Bulgarian National Television, is a state-owned entity headquartered in Bulgaria. Founded in 1959 and commencing broadcasting on December 26 of the same year as the first television service in Bulgaria, the company operates with approximately 380 employees, specializing in broadcast television and radio. The entity is a public television broadcaster of Bulgaria, stylised as ·Б·Н·Т· since 2018, and holds memberships with the International Radio and Television Organisation (to 31 December 1992), European Broadcasting Union (from 1 January 1993), EGTA, IMZ, CIRCOM Regional, FIAT, and BBLF.
On May 23, 2026, an Alpha Research survey indicated strong public optimism in Bulgaria, with 57% of citizens confident in the country's ability to organize Eurovision 2027 following DARA’s “Bangaranga” success, noting a significant shift in public sentiment toward national institutions. Previously, on May 22, Prime Minister Rumen Radev welcomed Eurovision 2026 winner DARA at the Council of Ministers, where government officials, representatives of the Bulgarian National Television, and DARA's team discussed the initial steps toward Bulgaria’s hosting of Eurovision 2027. The Prime Minister praised DARA, stating, “You Are Already Part of European Politics.” This followed Deputy Prime Minister Ivo Hristov’s announcement on Bulgarian National Television's (BNT) morning programme on May 21 that the organization of Eurovision 2027 is expected to cost between EUR 20 million and EUR 30 million, with anticipated good returns on expenditure. Earlier, on May 19, authorities began discussing the organization of "Eurovision-2027" and identifying funding sources, acknowledging the potential multi-million euro cost in the first working days after celebrating Bulgaria's victory. Concurrently on May 19, Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev expressed Sofia's readiness and eagerness to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 on bTV’s morning programme, emphasizing the event's scale.
