China Mobile Hong Kong, also known as CMHK, is a privately owned telecommunications operator headquartered in Hong Kong. It operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of China Mobile, with China Mobile International (CMI) listed as a subsidiary. Established in 1997, the company employs approximately 600 individuals and is identified as a tier 1 media tech buyer. As the largest telecommunications operator in Hong Kong, its primary focus is on providing comprehensive telecommunications services.
China Mobile Hong Kong (CMHK) on New Year's Day 2026 resumed its "One Card Two Numbers" service, which had suspended new applications at the end of 2025. The company stated the business "has been restored after previous business adjustments," with customers now able to apply in stores for the service, which carries an additional monthly fee of $18. A scholar analyzing the change suggested this monthly fee likely aims to share "compliance costs," following earlier allegations that the service involved fraud risks. Previously, on December 17, 2025, the Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) granted CMHK regulatory approval to terminate its 2G network on June 23, 2026. This approval positions CMHK as the last of Hong Kong's four major mobile players to retire its legacy 2G network.
