On June 12, Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw virtually inaugurated a 20 kW Akashvani FM Transmitter at Ramgarh in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, from the Akashvani Jaipur premises. This addition raises the total number of FM transmitters in Rajasthan to 39. Previously, on May 21, Prasar Bharati clarified it has no legal obligation to acquire broadcast rights for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, effectively ruling out Doordarshan's free-to-air coverage for Indian football fans during the global tournament in North America. This followed news from May 8, which indicated growing uncertainty over FIFA broadcast rights, prompting concerns among fans about potentially missing the event.
