European Fencing Confederation, a non-profit organization headquartered in Luxembourg, was founded on October 26, 1991. Initially established as “Union Européenne d’Escrime,” the entity was later renamed to its current English name. Its articles of confederation were passed in 2009.
On April 27, 2026, the 17th European Under 23 Fencing Championships in Cagliari saw Italy secure a gold medal in the women’s épée team event on home soil. The Italian team, composed of Carola Maccagno, Gaia Caforio, Lucrezia Paulis, and Vittoria Siletti, delivered a strong performance during the third day of the championships, leading to the awarding of the first team titles.
