News Summary:

J:Com confirmed on July 7, 2026, that a cyber attack on the KDDI-developed email platform it utilizes compromised email addresses of over 2.59 million customers. The operator linked this unauthorized access to an incident KDDI disclosed on June 23, stemming from a vulnerability exploited in third-party software within KDDI's ISP email platform. This follows KDDI Corporation's detection on June 17, 2026, of unauthorized access to its shared email system, which potentially exposed up to 14.2 million credentials across six Japanese internet service providers due to an exploited vulnerability in third-party software. Earlier on July 7, J:Com established a regional renewable energy procurement model. The model supports its goal of achieving carbon neutrality across operations by the end of the 2030 financial year, dividing electricity demand into three regions and combining diverse procurement methods and regional energy partners to align with its network infrastructure and local electricity needs. Previously, on June 10, J:Com announced plans to broadcast over 300 games from 15 regional qualifying tournaments for Japan's National High School Baseball Championship across its regional J Channel networks, with coverage set to begin on July 4.
