Advanced Info Service, also known as AIS, a publicly owned company headquartered in Thailand, operates in the telecoms sector. Founded in 1986, the company employs approximately 2,920 individuals and reported $6.9B in revenue as of 2025. Functioning as Thailand's largest GSM mobile phone operator, Advanced Info Service began as a computer rental business. In October 1990, the company launched analog 900 MHz mobile phone services with a 20-year monopoly concession from the Telephone Organization of Thailand (TOT), subsequently becoming the first company permitted to operate on the GSM-900 frequency. As of Q3 2016, it served 39.87 million customers, having acquired Shinawatra Paging in June 1992.
