MASV, a privately owned Canadian company founded in 2019, offers file sharing tools and solutions centered around a content supply chain. As of 2023, the company employs approximately 50 people and reports annual revenues under $10 million.
On April 3, 2025, MASV partnered with Mimir, a cloud-based video collaboration and production platform, to improve digital news workflows. MASV also collaborated with storage provider OpenDrives to improve file transfer, addressing the slow speeds often experienced when transferring large files, especially high-resolution footage. OpenDrives uses a checksum-based file system to maintain data integrity and consistent performance, correcting corrupted blocks at the file system level. MASV also offers compressed shapefile (.shpx) formats, resulting in smaller file sizes, ranging from a few to tens of megabytes. A shift towards hybrid workflows, combining on-premise and cloud solutions, is noted as a response to challenges with cloud-only solutions, including unexpected costs.
