On August 7, 2026, Supermac's won the latest round of its legal battle with McDonald's, securing a ruling from the UK Intellectual Property Office that allows the Irish fast-food chain's name and logo to be registered in the UK. Earlier the same day, McDonald's faced reports detailing its struggles in the US burger market, contrasting with Burger King's momentum. Burger King posted stronger-than-expected comparable sales growth of 8.5% for the quarter ended June 30, surpassing analyst expectations, while McDonald's performance was critiqued for its complex menu strategy. CEO Chris Kempczinski previously acknowledged that the company "botched" the rollout of a new low-cost menu, a top concern given customer feedback on a perceived lack of value. Also on August 7, McDonald's appointed Skye Anderson as President of McDonald's USA, effective immediately. Anderson, a company executive with over 26 years of experience, succeeds Joe Erlinger, who departed the company after more than two decades.
