Multichoice, privately owned, is headquartered in South Africa. It is a subsidiary of Canal+ Group. Founded in 1993, the company employs approximately 12,430 individuals and reported $2.8B in revenue as of 2024. MultiChoice Group, through its strategic partnership with CANAL+ and Samsung Electronics, expanded the rollout of a pre-installed MultiChoice streaming application on Samsung Smart TVs across English- and Portuguese-speaking African markets on June 25, 2026. This initiative aims to increase access to digital entertainment, offering Samsung users simplified access to the full breadth of DStv Stream content, including the FIFA World Cup 2026 and English Premier League. Previously, on June 24, the Oodua Youth Coalition (OYC) called on Nigerians to boycott MultiChoice's DStv, alongside MTN, alleging exploitation of consumers and contribution to the outflow of Nigeria’s wealth. Also on June 24, MultiChoice announced that CANAL+ will launch a new drama channel, Novelas+, on DStv starting July 1, 2026, making international telenovelas and drama series available across multiple DStv packages.
